Reading your hosting invoice without needing a dictionary
Plans, renewals, domains and extras — what each line means and what to question.
Hosting invoices confuse people because three different things get billed together: the plan, the domain, and extras. Here is how to read ours.
The three lines
- Plan — your hosting, monthly or yearly. The renewal price is the price you signed up at; if it ever changes we tell you 30 days ahead.
- Domain — yearly, per name. First year can be discounted; renewal is the standard rate, stated up front.
- Extras — things like extra storage or AI credits. Each has a unit price, and we alert you at 80% and 100% before any overage.
What to question on any host's invoice
- A renewal much higher than the signup price with no 30-day warning.
- Add-ons you did not ask for (SSL, 'security packs', site seals). Here SSL is included on every plan.
- Auto-renewal you cannot turn off. Ours can be switched off any time; the service runs to the end of the paid period.
